Who is The Archivist's Apprentice for?
The Archivist's Apprentice is written for 4th grade – 5th grade listeners: 12 pages, read aloud with each word highlighted as it is spoken, so early readers can follow along. It is one of TernQuest's narrated picture books — all free, all in the browser, with no ads.
How do narrated books help reading?
Hearing fluent reading while watching the words builds sight-word recognition and sense of sentence rhythm; the highlight keeps the child's eyes on the print. Read it together first, then let them replay it on their own. For what to practise alongside, see the reading skills by grade.
