TernQuest is a K–5 learning app: reading, math, science, coding and social studies as games, narrated stories and a kid-safe AI tutor. Free to start. Children play through a world map of skills while Pip, an Arctic tern, flies alongside with hints. Grown-ups get a dashboard with progress reports and controls.
Five: reading and language arts, math, science, logic and coding, and social studies. Each subject is its own world on the map, with 460+ learning games and more than 10,000 questions between them, plus 107 narrated picture books and a 156-game arcade.
It is built for children in Pre-K through 5th grade (roughly ages 4 to 11). Every game and question is grade-tagged, so a kindergartner and a fifth grader each see content at their own level.
Yes, it is free to start. The Free plan ($0) covers 1 child with 200+ free games and every narrated story. Family Pass is $15.99/month or $159.90/year for up to 4 children with everything unlocked. Classroom is $99/month or $990/year for up to 35 students.
There are no ads, ever. Kid sessions run with no analytics or tracking (COPPA-minded), grown-ups sign in with a magic link instead of a password, and children sign in with a join code or PIN chosen by their grown-up.
Pip is a kid-safe AI tutor. Pip gives hints and asks guiding questions but never hands over the answer, so children do the thinking themselves. Parents can turn the AI coach off at any time.
Reading, math and social studies follow the California standards for Pre-K through grade 5, science follows NGSS and coding follows the CSTA standards, with each skill tagged to its primary standard. The full map is public at /curriculum.
Yes. A teacher creates a classroom, shares a join code, and students sign in with it — no student email needed. Teachers can assign practice, group students and see class-wide progress. The Classroom plan supports up to 35 students.
It runs in any modern web browser on laptops, Chromebooks, tablets and phones. Nothing to install.
