Shape detective

What is “Shape detective”?

Shape detective is a 1st grade – 2nd grade math skill in the Shape Builder Bay region of the TernQuest map — name shapes, build new ones, share fairly & measure length. It is aligned to California Common Core State Standards standard 1.G.1. Children work through 24 grade-tagged questions at the recall level (quick recall), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens shape detective. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
