What is “Shadows & daily patterns”?

Shadows & daily patterns is a 5th grade science skill in the Sun, Stars & Shadows region of the TernQuest map — the sun's size, shadows, seasons & gravity. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 5-ESS1-2. Children work through 0 grade-tagged questions at the apply level (applying the idea), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens shadows & daily patterns. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
