What is “Reducing hazard impact”?

Reducing hazard impact is a 4th grade science skill in the Rocks & Landforms region of the TernQuest map — rock layers, weathering, maps & hazards. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 4-ESS3-2. Children work through 0 grade-tagged questions at the reason level (reasoning it through), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens reducing hazard impact. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
