What is “Bear Flag to statehood”?

Bear Flag to statehood is a 4th grade social studies skill in the Statehood Summit region of the TernQuest map — bear flag, railroads & state government. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 4.3.1 / 4.3.5. Children work through 0 grade-tagged questions at the recall level (quick recall), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens bear flag to statehood. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
