What is “Spelling steps”?

Spelling steps is a 3rd grade reading skill in the Word Workshop region of the TernQuest map — word parts, clues & grammar. It is aligned to California Common Core standard L.3.2. Children work through 26 grade-tagged questions at the apply level (applying the idea), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens spelling steps. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
