What is “Read the data”?

Read the data is a 4th grade coding skill in the Variables & Data region of the TernQuest map — boxes that hold values; data you can read. It is aligned to CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards standard 1B-DA-07. Children work through 20 grade-tagged questions at the apply level (applying the idea), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens read the data. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
