What is “Order of operations”?

Order of operations is a 5th grade math skill in the Expression Observatory region of the TernQuest map — order of operations & powers. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 5.OA.1. Children work through 30 grade-tagged questions at the apply level (applying the idea), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens order of operations. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
