What is “Mixing makes something new?”?

Mixing makes something new? is a 5th grade science skill in the Matter & Mixtures region of the TernQuest map — particles, conservation, properties & changes. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 5-PS1-4. Children work through 0 grade-tagged questions at the reason level (reasoning it through), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens mixing makes something new?. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
