What is “Codes & signals”?

Codes & signals is a 4th grade science skill in the Waves & Information region of the TernQuest map — wave patterns, seeing with light & codes. It is aligned to Next Generation Science Standards standard 4-PS4-3. Children work through 20 grade-tagged questions at the reason level (reasoning it through), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens codes & signals. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
