What is “Add & subtract fractions”?

Add & subtract fractions is a 4th grade math skill in the Fraction Foundry region of the TernQuest map — add, compare & build fractions. It is aligned to California Common Core standard 4.NF.3d. Children work through 32 grade-tagged questions at the apply level (applying the idea), and Pip the tern offers a hint — never the answer — when they get stuck.

How does it unlock?

Skills on the map unlock in order: finishing the skill before this one with a mastery score of 60 or more opens add & subtract fractions. A grown-up can also assign it directly from the dashboard, and teachers can assign it to a whole class with a join code.
