The "until canceled" wording matters. The trial converts to a recurring monthly charge, so the true cost is whatever number of months you forget to cancel, multiplied by $14.99. If you plan to use it for the full preschool-to-2nd-grade run, budget $179.88 per year.

- Breadth. Most competitors in this age range are reading-first (HOMER, Duolingo ABC) or reading-and-math (Reading Eggs, TernQuest). ABCmouse also gives your child art, music and science activities under one login.
- Three profiles. A family with two or three kids under 8 is exactly who the pricing suits best.
- Familiar, guided path. The step-by-step learning path is easy for a four-year-old to follow without a grown-up steering every click.
The limits
- Ages 2–8 only. When your child moves into 3rd grade, ABCmouse is not built for them. Age of Learning sells Adventure Academy for grades 2–5, and the US App Store lists that at $9.99/$12.99 monthly or $59.99/$79.99 yearly, so plan on a second subscription if you stay with the same company.
