🏮 The Night of Borrowed Light
“The moth arrived soaked and apologising. Upstream at the Glimmerholt the storm had put the lantern tree down across the green, and for the first time in anybody's memory — anybody's, and some of them are extremely old — ”
Who is The Night of Borrowed Light for?
The Night of Borrowed Light is written for 2nd grade – 4th grade listeners: 10 pages, read aloud with each word highlighted as it is spoken, so early readers can follow along. It is one of TernQuest's narrated picture books — all free, all in the browser, with no ads.
How do narrated books help reading?
Hearing fluent reading while watching the words builds sight-word recognition and sense of sentence rhythm; the highlight keeps the child's eyes on the print. Read it together first, then let them replay it on their own. For what to practise alongside, see the reading skills by grade.
